Bridge the Divide for Local Authorities

During this crisis a number of schools and Councils asked LGfL to help them respond effectively to rising technology costs caused by device shortages, inequality of equipment provision and disruption to the education of children. Whilst we don't normally provide classroom equipment, we decided that we couldn't stand idly whilst schools were under such pressure. Our charitable mission is, after all, the advancement of education.

"Bridge the Divide" is a huge national procurement, led by LGfL, for up to 2 million Chromebooks and WinBooks. By procuring at a massive scale, we are saving schools millions of pounds and increasing access to devices and technology for children, including those disadvantaged. The response so far has been inspiring. Please help us #BridgeTheDivide so we can make the biggest (& cheapest) ever device purchase ever for children. #Kit2Kids

How is #BridgeTheDivide Procurement Compliant?

LGfL is a Charitable Trust owned by the London Boroughs and is a Contracting Authority that works with its members and wider organisations to promote and improve educational outcomes through the advancement of technology led innovation. To ensure compliance with procurement policy and legislation, LGfL conducted a procurement for and on behalf of all schools and local authorities in England and Wales via a Crown Commercial Services Framework Technology Products and Associated Services (RM6068 Lot 1 – LGfL reference DN479930), the results of which have been made available via the Bridge the Divide initiative.

The procurement is available for use by all organisations featured within the following URL’s:

Schools and local authorities do not need to obtain further quotes from the wider market as the procurement conducted under the framework is compliant with procurement regulations. LGfL is investing significant resources to ensure that the Bridge the Divide offer continues to deliver the best value option for schools via a continuous benchmarking process.
