Attendees' view on the impact of the Literacy Study Tour

As an English lead at a junior school and a teacher myself in year six. I've always wanted to use the tech but not really know how it can be used practically to actually impact the learning in a positive manner and worried about children's distraction. But today it's really opened my eyes to actually how it can be done practically, how it removes barriers to learning, how it enhances children's confidence, their pride in their learning, and that emotional connection to it. So it's been really fabulous to see.'

'What I enjoyed about coming here was just seeing children just using it as a matter of course. Like, you would pick up a book and a pencil. They were picking up their Chromebook or their iPad, and they were just using that technology. One of my concerns was about workload, but I talked to one of the teachers about that, and I think it decreases workload and also can engage children more in assessing their own work. So it benefits the children and it benefits our teachers.

You can talk to teachers about what you want to see, but the moment they can actually see a peer, someone exactly like them delivering the teaching, how they're making it work, being able to answer their questions, that's the sort of thing that really moves teaching on.'
