The DSL has lead responsibility for web filtering, which includes complying with the DfE standards. This page is to support your journey towards this - whether you are a beginner or have worked for years with your technical teams to better understand and effectively manage filtering - which is all about keeping children safe. Review versus Checks
How do I know LGfL filtering is supersafe and 'appropriate' for use in schools?
To understand our filtering system and what it can do, please read our 'appropriate filtering' submission to the Safer Internet Centre below. This is an important read for technicians and DSLs so that you know our approach and all about the functionality you need to keep children safe online.
But don't just take our word for it. We are one of only a handful of providers to be accredited by the UK Safer Internet Centre - that means independent auditors interviewed us and tested the technology to make sure it does everything we say, for the peace of mind we know you need as a school.
Remember though, just having our system does not make you comply with KCSIE and the DfE Standards - that depends on what you do with it, how it's set up, how you respond to the reports you view, and your processes and documentation. So make sure you attend the training and use the check and review documents on this page to ensure best practice at your school.
If in doubt, reach out to us for a chat (safeguarding@lgfl.net for DSLs; technicians, please open a support case).
